Rants & Raves: Swimwear

If you’ve been following my BFF Glow Raspberry Challenge posts (here and on Twitter), you’d know that I’ve lost 1.3kgs and 0.4% fat in about a week. I feel good and I still don’t know if it’s water-loss or permanent. But, what’s great is, that there is something to look forward to! Maybe I can get my butt out to the pool soon!

It’s been almost 2 years since I last considered buying swim wear. I’ve always been too conscious of myself – not so much that I’m fat (this, I can’t really help just yet), but more so the disproportionate size of my belly to the rest of me. I can wear a size 14 (sometimes a UK12) bottom but anything that’s not elasticised at the waist and I have to go up to a UK18. You know how people say that abs in a skinny man is like DDs in a fat woman – well, I’m definitely way below the average in that area. Good thing for well-made push-ups! (I’ll save that for another post).

Anyway, I was checking out swimwear by Simply Be and noticed a couple of swimmers I liked that were on sale! Wheeee!!!! I’m not sure how far I’ll be able to take this so my picks are still quite conservative (I’m trying, I’m trying, okay!)…

Silhouette Violet Spot Blouson Top

This Sihouette Violet Spot Blouson Top is now £17.50 and hides my troubled torso.

Slimma Bandeau Swimdress

And the Slimma Bandeau Swimdress comes with tummy control as well as fixed foam cups! Only £29!

There are a few others that I really like that are within my budget but they are all for people with at least a D cup… BAH! Anyway, here’s a positive outlook for 2013 – I may not be standard issue Asian size, but I don’t have to wear old-lady clothes! And now that I’ve conquered my fear of exercising outdoors (running), maybe I can work in some swimming as well! Afterall, I do live on a tropical island!
