IMG_96612 posts in 1 day! OMG!!! Heh… just trying to catch up and I do like today’s ensemble. Especially my new floral crown and geometric necklace. They were recent purchases that I got from the H&M at Caesar’s Palace here in Vegas. But, here’s a little ranty tanty – my necklace was supposed to be on sale for $3 and when I got home I found that I’ve paid full price for it despite seeing the price flashed on the cash register and asking TYLER (YOU TYLER YOU!!) to double check. He told me to rest assured that he’s keeping an eye on it because it happened several times and he had to manually discount the items. I ended up paying almost $13 for it. I won’t trust you again Tyler from H&M at Caesar’s Palace! The good thing is that I like the necklace enough that $13 is no biggie.

What I’m wearing today:

Top: Grey geometric print long-sleeved crop top from MOSSIMO SUPPLY CO

Accessories: Dark blue floral crown from H&M; Black & yellow geometric acrylic statement necklace from H&M

Bottom: Black full midi skirt from ASOS PETITE

This is one of 2 chinoiserie dresses that I own and I hardly ever take them out even I’ve had them both for several years now. The thing with these figure-grazing dresses is that I have to find good days to wear them (i.e. no PMS bloating or buffets). Chinese women are usually so slender that it’s almost impossible to be fat and look good in traditional costume. Luckily this isn’t really one of those made-in-china for Chinese women type dresses. I do sometimes wish I can buy off-the-rack cheongsams but I know even if I find one in my size, I don’t have the right shape to carry off the image that I want (in my head).

What I’m wearing today:

Dress: Burgundy Wine Red Mini Dress with Black Lace & Bow from PATRICIA VALERY on etsy

Bag: Black kiss-clasp purse from PAUL FRANK

Footwear: Black wedge pumps from ZIPIA

IMG_6682This was my wedding dress. T and I deliberately chose to buy something we can wear repeatedly. No sense in wasting the money just for one day. I wore this to the Las Vegas chapel wedding and also to my tea ceremony in Singapore – albeit with different accessories. It has served me well!

What I’m wearing today:

Dress: Blue floral “Vintage Elizabeth” tea dress from SOHOMODE

Accessories: Embellished Mirror Statement necklace from ACCESSORIZE

Bag: Black kiss-clasp purse from PAUL FRANK

Footwear: Black wedge pumps from ZIPIA

IMG_6009Does my top look familiar? That’s because you’ve seen that print HERE! It’s a dress, yes! What I’ve done is to capitalise on the fact that the dress has a wide circle skirt and just threw the black one over so there’s some shape. Now what do you think about that? Hahaha…

What I’m wearing today:

Top: Green flower dress with pink and orange accents from LURVE HANDLES (worn as a top)

Bottom: Black full midi skirt from ASOS PETITE

Bag: Black kiss-clasp purse from PAUL FRANK

Footwear: Black wedge pumps from ZIPIA

IMG_6010I definitely look like I’m in pain. HAHAHA!! I guess I either give it a big grin or don’t. The half-way smile thing just doesn’t work for me.

IMG_6007Do I look like I’m in pain or that I’m suffering some unspeakable sadness? I feel like that’s what it appears to be when I’m not smiling or grinning widely. I’m often asked if I’m okay and it does force me to be insanely jolly (or pretend to be) just so as not to worry anyone. HAHAHA!

What I’m wearing today:

Dress: Red/White strappy floral dress from Forever 21 Plus.

Outerwear: Silver cropped cardigan from DELIA*S

Accessories: Red beads and cowry shell handmade necklace from herphotoblog by Seraphina & Co

Bag: Black kiss-clasp purse from PAUL FRANK

Footwear: Black wedge pumps from ZIPIA

IMG_6005So today we take it outside. I’m just experimenting. Are you sick of seeing our hall tree and our “mud room” yet? It’s not really a mud room, it’s just a vestibule outside our bedroom and where you enter from the garage. I usually do my pictures there because that’s where my shoes are and right outside the bedroom after I get dressed. It also doesn’t hurt that there’s a set of full glass sliding doors letting the light into the house.

We have a little yard outside our bedroom and Max is probably King of the area because he likes lying out on the flagstones in the day. My problem is the wind and the weird angle at which the sun hits our house so I have to catch the right time to take these pictures. I’ll probably try it out a few more times just for variety if not anything.

IMG_6006What I’m wearing today:

Dress: Maroon & blue printed short sleeved dress from PRIMARK

Accessories: Gold bow stretchy belt from BCBGENERATION

Bag: Black kiss-clasp purse from PAUL FRANK

Footwear: Black wedge pumps from ZIPIA

IMG_5645What I’m wearing today:

Dress: Blue spotty sweetheart neckline frock from H&M

Accessories: Red jewel flower statement necklace from MYBEAD88 on eBay

Bag: Red leather tote from KATE SPADE

Bottom: Black meringue petticoat from DOMINO DOLLHOUSE

Footwear: Black wedge heels from ZIPIA

My pal Ryddy gifted me this dress from England and he likes women to dress with a more feminine style. So the key thing to making this dress work for me was the petticoat. I don’t have nice curvy hips (or any hips at all) so I wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the fact that this dress had a big circle skirt. This is what I call the inverted cupcake look – the frosting at the bottom, see? I would love to dress like a cupcake all the time…

How do you store your bags? Hiking backpacks, shopping totes, small irregular-shaped clutches, handbags of every manner… HOW?! I didn’t bring all my bags with me when I moved to Las Vegas. Some were given to friends who really liked them, some went to my sister, some I managed to sell… BUT I still have quite a few that I eventually brought over.

Today I was trying to tidy our tiny walk-in closet to make sure that I know what I have and that they’re still in good condition. So for those with dust bags, they are carefully placed in their respective bags and stacked. The ones without, if I’m able to find a Ziplock big enough, they get zipped up then stacked. The others unfortunately just sit in my empty suitcase forgotten until I have to empty the suitcase for travels. It is not ideal at all…

I thought this would be a great time for me to start documenting the bags in my modest collection because most of my outfit posts do not feature my bags at all. So here goes…

What I’m wearing today:

Dress: Brown Bird Tea dress from SOHOMODE

Bottom: Peach Meringue petticoat from DOMINO DOLLHOUSE

Accessories: Lilac acrylic statement necklace from TALISMAN’S (at Far East Plaza)

Bag: Black kiss-clasp purse from PAUL FRANK

Footwear: Black wedge pumps from ZIPIA

Absolutely love this old-fashioned purse with a kitsch twist! Bought it off eBay several years ago for a steal! I haven’t been able to find any more 😦 Most of the Paul Frank bags on eBay are knockoffs or overpriced. This is one of those really well-made authentic pieces. I always get asked about it when I bring it out.

I saw Aarti’s instagram post on this dress and I was like, HEY! I have it too! And I thought it should be today’s Outfit of the Day.

I really like this dress even though I was very skeptical about fitted dresses bought online. I have a really wide midsection compared to my hips so I wear a UK12 for bottoms if they are elasticised and go up to a UK16 when they are fitted. The miracles of miracles… THIS DRESS FITTED LIKE IT WAS MEANT FOR ME! If you’ve been following my blog, you’d know that I love custom tailored dresses and I have at least 12 dresses that are made-to-measure because I just want them to fit me for me. This dress however, felt like it was just that even though it was prêt-à-porter! Wheeee… Happy happy joy joy!

The other good thing is that shift dresses are great for bringing you from work to play. And that’s why I’ve dressed it up differently here. For work, play down the florals and brights with a jacket and more sensible shoes. As simple as that! Quick change of shoes, a bolder lipstick and flash some skin, that’s it! A different look!

What I’m wearing today:

Dress: Green flower dress with pink and orange accents from LURVE HANDLES

Outerwear: Grey and black lined boucle blazer from OLD NAVY Studio Spotlight

Accessories: Gold dangling shards necklace from OLIVER BONAS; Gold pleather weave belt from H&M

Footwear: Red lacquer platform sandals from ZARA WOMEN; Black wedge pumps from ZIPIA

IMG_5334

I can’t rave enough about how awesome this dress is at only S$45.90. This dress comes in Size 1 (UK14), Size 2 (UK16), Size 3 (UK18) and Size 4 (UK20). I love that while it’s a fitted waist, it’s cut generously and is lined! Of course, if you know me, POCKETS! It’s missing pockets! Otherwise, it’s perfect! Anyway, don’t worry if you’re not in Singapore. LURVE HANDLES ship internationally too! That’s how I got mine! It flew here!

Oh by the way, here’s Aarti’s post on the same dress (and then some) on her blog! Check it out!
