IMG_6682This was my wedding dress. T and I deliberately chose to buy something we can wear repeatedly. No sense in wasting the money just for one day. I wore this to the Las Vegas chapel wedding and also to my tea ceremony in Singapore – albeit with different accessories. It has served me well!

How do you store your bags? Hiking backpacks, shopping totes, small irregular-shaped clutches, handbags of every manner… HOW?! I didn’t bring all my bags with me when I moved to Las Vegas. Some were given to friends who really liked them, some went to my sister, some I managed to sell… BUT I still have quite a few that I eventually brought over.

Today I was trying to tidy our tiny walk-in closet to make sure that I know what I have and that they’re still in good condition. So for those with dust bags, they are carefully placed in their respective bags and stacked. The ones without, if I’m able to find a Ziplock big enough, they get zipped up then stacked. The others unfortunately just sit in my empty suitcase forgotten until I have to empty the suitcase for travels. It is not ideal at all…

I thought this would be a great time for me to start documenting the bags in my modest collection because most of my outfit posts do not feature my bags at all. So here goes…

Absolutely love this old-fashioned purse with a kitsch twist! Bought it off eBay several years ago for a steal! I haven’t been able to find any more 😦 Most of the Paul Frank bags on eBay are knockoffs or overpriced. This is one of those really well-made authentic pieces. I always get asked about it when I bring it out.

Whad’ya know? It’s Friday, Friday, Friday!! I’m so excited for the weekend to come. There are plans and there are plans! Happy Mothers’ Day in advance too!

As an aside to today’s outfit post, I want to talk about my plans for next weekend! I’m really excited about Flipside – 17 to 26 May 2013! Flipside is a family-friendly, all-ages festival that is held at Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay. Think of it as part carnival, part comedy festival, all fun! There are ticketed performances as well as lots of FREE ones! There are also other complementary activities if you’re not interested in watching a show.

I last caught The Kransky Sisters (Australia) when they were here in 2008. OMG! So hilarious! I highly recommend a girls’ night out for this show. Tickets are only $35 from SISTIC! I’ll be going to the one on 18 May at 3pm!! Also on 17 May at 7.30pm, The Sharpe Brothers (USA) will be performing comedic acrobatic stunts for free at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre. Won’t miss that one! The kiddies would love it too! The other show that I’d have like to catch (if I was here) would be Technodelic Visual Show by SIRO-A (Japan). They’re like Asia’s answer to The Blue Man Group. Tickets are also $35 from SISTIC – pity I’ll be in Las Vegas that weekend. If you go, let me know what you think okay?

I’m wearing another copy dress today. Yes, it’s copy of the SOHOMODE tea dresses I own several of. I wouldn’t recommend it because a) it might hurt your favourite indie crafters b) it wouldn’t be as good as the original. However, I did it because I bought this super cute fabric at Spotlight and it has been sitting in my closet for more than a year, and I really didn’t know what I should do with it until someone suggested I copy one of my existing dresses. (Actually, I have a lot more fabric that I bought on a whim and I haven’t quite had time to use them yet. Eeeks!)

Initially, I was torn between sending 3metres of this material (quite heavy textile) to New York or getting it tailored here. My tailor is JUST NICE at Roxy Square and they did a fantastic job (with some minor readjusting). They tried capturing all the details and it looks great on. I’d highly recommend them if you need any alterations or tailoring done in Singapore. To be honest though, nothing beats the original, so my next tea dress is gonna be another SOHOMODE original (which is being custom designed right now).

JUST NICE is located at 50 East Coast Road, #02-97, Roxy Square, Singapore 428769. I’ve had at least 8 alterations done with them and 2 dresses tailored. This tea dress costs me S$130 – S$30 for 3m of fabric and S$100 for tailoring. Which is only slightly less than my SOHOMODE original. (However if I had sent the fabric over to New York, it’d cost a lot more than if I bought an original SOHOMODE dress. You know shipping rates are crazy these days…)

It’s 444! Not a good number for the Chinese but I hope it doesn’t mean anything.

Wow! Been weeks since I last updated. I do want to be more consistent and post at least 2-3 times a week. I’ve been doing tons lately. Work has been so exciting and I haven’t had a breather yet. I’ll save those updates for later but I must say I’m looking forward to a 2 week long holiday. I’ll technically be in Singapore half the time but time away from the office is a holiday right? Also, T will be here in just over 30 hours! We will be going to Kuala Lumpur, Batam and Bangkok!

Anyway… This was supposed to be a quick outfit post. So here’s me wearing one of my favourite dresses yet AGAIN. I have like 5 variations of this now I think!

It’s another WTFW and we are counting down to the last 2 What The Frock Wednesdays! I haven’t repeated a single dress yet. (I have to be honest and say that I’ve probably gotten rid of half the dresses I’ve featured in WTFW since it started and also bought new ones. But hey! We’re all about promoting frivolity and spending the money we deservingly earned, right?)

I absolutely love this dress and it’s my 2nd SOHOMODE dress! (I actually have 1 more that I might wear tomorrow!)
