Back on Polyvore again!

Once in a while, I go onto Polyvore and look for style inspirations. Every so often, I find a few pieces I like and cobble together a look. It’s great for testing out if you can style an outfit before you invest in certain pieces. I feel like if I can find 3 to 5 ways of using/wearing the item, it’s a winner. Even then though, I have a threshhold. That is to say, I wouldn’t pay beyond a certain amount for different things. For example, I’d be glad to pay for a $2, 000 watch if I know that it’d last me more than 15 years, has a reputable service centre support and at least 50% resale value; but I’m very excited to have scored with my $15 Casio calculator watch that I wear every other day too. I wouldn’t pay more than $30 for a mass produced dress from a major retailer but I think $150 is reasonable for a hand-made dress by an independent crafter/designer.

Polyvore is also great for finding similar pieces so you can get ideas on where you can buy a replica or a decent substitute of something you can’t afford – how it does this is that is culls images and prices from retailers’ online catalog all over the world. How awesome is that?

Anyway, the key reason I’ve been back on Polyvore again is because I lost my iPhone 5 and I’ve been unable to blog since I find it troublesome to take photos with a proper camera, download, resize, upload and then write the post for my daily outfit photos. I mean, the only reason I could do a post a day was because I only take 5 – 10 minutes to do my WIWT/OOTD as I do it entirely on the phone!

So until I get my hands on a replacement set (most likely NOT an iPhone 5 because it costs too much and I can’t afford it for now since I’m going on a long holiday next month), and for the lack of updates here are some of my latest Polyvore sets. Just imagine me wearing them over the next uhm… 5 days?

Polyvore-ing again!

I started a Polyvore account about 3 years back and abandoned it for almost 2 years before returning to it a few days ago. I don’t remember why I left Polyvore-ing! OMG it’s so fun! Do you have a Polyvore account?

I love Polyvore-ing because at this moment, I’m decluttering and I can’t afford the space to store so many clothes, so all I can do is stick some stuff I really like and pretend that I own them. And maybe when I eventually buy my own place (house hunting is hard), I will own them all.

It’s interesting to note that my style hasn’t really changed in the 3 years. I’m still all about colours, kitsch and accessorizing.

Here are some of the sets I created:

And here's something I put together 2 years back

And this is one of the most recent ones I created a few days ago

This must only mean one thing… I’m going to be one of the most colourful and crazy-looking 40-year olds around! Woohooo! Watch out in a few years’ time!

My thing with crazy colours is that I want to break all the stupid RULES about BLACK being a slimming colour and that fat girls must be restrained within certain boundaries. Catch me if you can, fashion police! I hate fashion!

I discovered Polyvore today! www.polyvore.com So ditzy, so frivolous! I created some looks I’d like for MYSELF (but of course…)
