IMG_9289I’ve decided that the next time I wear this ensemble, it’ll be for Christmas. FIngers crossed that it’ll be warm enough indoors when we’re in New York though… What do you think? I think it’s quite Christmassy, no? Of course, I’ll have a super fluffy down-feather mid-length coat with me as well.

What I’m wearing today:

Dress: Black and red floral skater dress from BRAT STAR

Accessories: Vintage teal and gold necklace from SELECT 18 (Soho, Hong Kong); Black flower barrette from ASOS; Black stretchy belt with gold bow from BCBGeneration

IMG_9039IMG_9037So I was off to the Post Office again today. I’ve been selling on Vinted and so far, I’ve made about 5 sales. I like the Post Office on Russell. I go there often because I also send things out for T. It gives me the opportunity to get out of the house, you know?

Anyway, this is what I wore today:

Top: Grey striped 3/4 sleeved boatneck sweater from NEW LOOK

Outerwear: Light grey cropped motorcycle jacket from ADIDAS ORIGINALS

Accessories: Blue and Pink jewel statement necklace (gift from Pris Boh)

Bottom: Black full midi skirt from ASOS PETITE

Bag: Pink bow and black trim beige bag from BETSEY JOHNSON

Footwear: Tan Bow-Tie Ballet Flats from OLD NAVY

IMG_5647I’m looking at these pictures and I think about how I’ll be turning 36 in exactly 2 months to the day. When I was a teenager, I thought that 30-somethings had to have permed hair and wear blue eyeshadow AND red lipstick. My life is nowhere near what I imagined it would be. 36, jobless and childless. But it’s not a bad life at all. I’m thankful for all that I have and all that I’ve become. I just never thought I’d be wearing a bold pineapple print skirt at my age. What did I know?!

I love my Pineapple skirt. I love food-themed clothes and accessories. I love food. PERIOD.

What I’m wearing today:

Top: Purple striped tank top from NEW LOOK

Outerwear: Mustard yellow sheer jacket from a nonameshop in Far East Plaza

Accessories: Colourful shards necklace from LOUCHE ACCESSORIES (JOY store in London)

Bag: Black & white patent leather dog cross body bag from EASYTRADE2099 on eBay

Bottom: Pineapple print pencil skirt from H&M DIVIDED

Footwear: Dark Purple sueded platform wedge pumps with bow from HAILEY JEANS CO (on AMAZON)

IMG_5426This post features a bag I love but don’t have many occasions to carry because it’s too small for my regular wallet. And doesn’t go with most of my things. I usually carry it when nothing matches and I just want to clash all kinds of colours or prints in one outfit. BUT more importantly this outfit features my spanking brand new SUPERGA sneakers that I bought for the princely *snigger* sum of USD8.99!! ROSS did it again! I checked and they usually retail for USD50 upwards! Big pats on my back!!

What I’m wearing today:

Top: Black OPPOSITION PARTY band t-shirt

Bottom: Red KEITH HARING mini skirt from FOREVER21

Accessories: Pepperoni Pizza Brooch from TWINKIE CHAN on etsy.com; Set of 7 black & bronze bangles from NEW LOOK

Bag: Green polka dotted GARDEN PARTY kiss-clasp purse from DEJA VU VINTAGE

Footwear: Turquoise classic sneakers from SUPERGA

IMG_5427I just wanted to put it out there for posterity that the other day when I was putting hearts on all the lovely things I liked (but not buying) on ModCloth, my husband gave me a hug and said with a sad face “It’s okay honey, soon we’ll have money for you to buy all the things you want”. How sweet is that? Honestly, even if we had a $500,000 bank balance, I don’t think I’ll be spending $300 on shoes. It’s fun looking at nice things though…

20130830-102208.jpgHello hello! I’m back with the outfit posts! Hopefully I will get this thing started again. I blame it on the holiday mood right now. I’ve been sleeping in and generally just in shorts & t-shirt while pottering around the house. Today though, T and I went out to get the rental car for our roadtrip tomorrow to Arizona. We’re visiting his Dad and Step-Mom there. So yes, this is the outfit I wore to rent a car.

What I’m wearing today:

Dress: Red & white floral dress from NEW LOOK

Accessories: Red floral hair clip from ACCESSORIZE; Gold weave pleather belt from H&M

Bag: Grey clutch with studs and chain strap from BERSHKA

Footwear: Black hidden wedge pumps from ZIPIA

Pictures by T in our yard. I’m not sure why I’m so red. Is it the reflection from the surroundings? Or is my iPhone 4 crapping on me??

20130830-102216.jpg

20130830-102224.jpgMax kept wanting to get in the picture so T took a photo of him. Heehee… Max the Maximum Dog is a good boy. He keeps me company throughout the day. Today, we have made the 2nd floor our base and his choice spot is the balcony for sunning himself. It rained earlier, so the outside is kinda wet (and cool). I love it when it rains (regardless of whether in Singapore or Las Vegas or London). I love the smell of rain, the pitter-patter of raindrops, I love the humidity (except when it’s muggy in Singapore) and I love how the temperature drops… Zzzzz…

20130830-102237.jpg

20130830-102243.jpgThat’s the red FORD Taurus that we rented. Parked it across from our house because T’s Corvette was in the garage and we’re next to the fire hydrant so we aren’t allowed to park or block the passage. Anyway, the place we rented it from is called Enterprise Rent-A-Car and they have a pick-up service which is cool. They send someone to your house to pick you up and send you to the rental office. The entire process took less than 20 mins – checking my drivers’ license to payment, to checking the car for damages before handing over, signing forms etc. Easy peasy! Can’t wait till tomorrow! We aim to leave the house at about 6am and hopefully reach our destination by lunch! I’m excited! I haven’t been to Arizona and I really want to go to Amy’s Baking Company (the crazy Facebook meltdown following Chef Gordon Ramsey quitting on them is AMAZING). T says he doesn’t want to waste his time there but I thought it’d be funny you know? Just to see if it is true.

In other news, I’ve officially driven a car in 5 different countries – Singapore, Malaysia, England, Australia and now the USA! While I took my driving test using a manual car (it was then compulsory in Singapore), I don’t think I can operate a stick shift anymore. The last time I did, was several years ago at Tamares’ wedding in England. I drove the bridal car. To say “drive” is pushing the definition. I couldn’t find the biting point and had problems shifting gears. It was horrifying how many times the car stalled. Lucky for us, we weren’t in Central London but peacefully quiet Oxfordshire. T wants me to drive him home from his eye surgery in 2 weeks’ time and I fear his car. Firstly, it’s a sports car. Secondly, it’s manual transmission… EEEKS!! Stay tuned, folks!

This is a new top. I bought it yesterday and I haven’t washed it. I love it so much I had to wear it today! I know, I know… I’m supposed to be clearing my things and stop with the buying until my wardrobe is of acceptable size but I was weak. I went out shopping for gifts for T’s relatives and my friend Glenn’s birthday but I ended up spending about S$106 on myself. This top (S$24.90) and two necklaces from ACCESSORIZE (S$80.80). This just means that I’m gonna have to do another wardrobe clear out in the next few weeks. Heh… Give me 2 weeks to decide what I can part with… Heehee! I could definitely use some extra $$$

Anyway, I’ve been told that today’s get-up is quite unusual for me and I look more casual than on normal days. What can I say? I love this top a little too much to care! Also, it was raining when I left the house today!

What I’m wearing today:

Top: Light blue Little Twin Stars 3/4 jersey from UNIQLO x SANRIO

Accessories: Navy hair bow from a swop meet; Pink ear studs from GRER (gift from Felix); Black calculator watch from CASIO

Bottoms: Navy jeans from RIVER ISLAND

Footwear: Mint ARIEL ballet flats from Le Bunny Bleu

Had a nice 3-day weekend as I had taken the day off yesterday. I feel warm and fuzzy all over because I’ve been spending a lot of time with friends. After the Singapore Blog Awards on Saturday, Nat Pixiedub and I went shopping. On Sunday, we had a potluck for lunch with the extended family because my cousin Dawn is back from Hong Kong with her boyfriend Nico for a visit. Afterwards, I spent the entire afternoon till evening at Noel and Stella’s house, playing with their daughter Kate and talking endlessly about random topics with Joe, Little, Joanne, Jay, Nat Pixiedub, Cherry and Jon. And yesterday, I visited Jayne and Edwin’s house to see their newborn Jude. Followed by lunch at i12Katong with Wai Peng and 2-month old Naomi!

And today I return to work with a new hairdo! Honestly speaking, I was a little worried when the perming tools were removed and I saw crazy tight ringlets not unlike Shirley Temple. Thankfully though they loosened after being released and washed out. It’s a new look and I’m still getting used to it. I like that it looks shinier and feels softer than it used to. I guess digital perms don’t destroy your hair like regular ones do. What do you think?

What I’m wearing today:

Dress: Black tube high-low dress from NEW LOOK

Accessories: Pink floral hair band from ASOS; Black calculator watch from CASIO

Outerwear: Red/blue plaid shirt from H&M

Footwear: Black ASHIKA SCOOPED BALLET flats from ROCKPORT

This outfit was almost postponed till tomorrow. The Indonesian forest fires are wreaking major havoc on air quality in Singapore. Yesterday, PSI (Pollutants Standards Index) levels were as high as 155 – with a 101 – 200 being unhealthy. (According to THIS SITE, it is 202 in Central Singapore as I type this post.) As I was making my way home last night, I progressively felt my throat closing in on me. By the time I got home at around 8.30pm, I realised why. My eyes were irritated and OPTREX eye lotion (the eye baths) became my best friend. I also guzzled water throughout the night.

This morning I woke up feeling really bad. My nose, eyes and throat were just shutting down their defenses and I headed for the clinic. I was given a day’s medical leave, some throat gargle, flu tablets and medicated eye drops. But because I already had meetings scheduled for 5pm and 7.30pm, I had to get dressed and go to work. So TAH DAH!!! Thank you Sianny for the pictures.

This is the 2nd piece sponsored by FLOW.

Say hello to my Twisted Front & Back dress which I now have in 2 colours – blue and fuchsia. I have to be honest and say that it’s not true to its colour description but I think I love it more than if it was a regular pinkish fuchsia. It is definitely darker and more like a jewel tone in person than reflected in my photos.

The dress is a luscious purple and I know this shade to be great for people of all skin tones. I’m a regular fair-skinned Asian (NC25) but I totally can see this working on someone who’s darker – gorgeously tawny gold tans or glowing brown tones. I love that the twisty front and back of the dress disguises lumps – you know, the belly folds and the back fats? Also, it’s so super stretchy and soft, like a lycra but less shiny, more velvety. I love that you don’t have to iron this and it won’t crease – notice the trend? But again, please use a felt hanger. Maybe double it over the bar to prevent it from over-stretching from hanging. The description on the FLOW website says it’s “EVENING” wear but I wore this to office. This is definitely a piece that can take you all the way to evening cocktail hour. Dress it up with a bolder lipstick, maybe a statement necklace and glossy high heels to transition.

What I’m wearing today:

Dress: Purple Twisted Front & Back dress from FLOW

Accessories: Stack of 7 black/bronze bangles from NEW LOOK

Footwear: Nude platform heels from FromTheHeel on eBay

Just a couple of weeks ago, I mentioned in a blog entry that you’d be seeing me with more hair accessories now since my hair is longer and fluffier (read: more unruly). And TAH DAH! Here’s me with a new hair piece sponsored by Samantha Gan, the brains and nifty fingers behind Frills and Fancies. I love supporting small businesses, creative start-ups and indie crafters. Frills and Fancies is right up the alley. This week, I’ll be wearing some accessories sponsored by them and YOU, my readers stand a chance to win these very items from Frills & Fancies! This giveaway is open to all WORLDWIDE and will end next Sunday 23 June 2013. Samantha will pick the 4 lucky winners at random.
