So my 2nd trimester has come and gone. I should really write a post about how it had been. In fact, there are so many things I want to blog about but my energy level seems to have dipped again. This baby is getting BIG! I can tell the difference between baby belly and fat belly – obviously I started the pregnancy being fat so I already had padding there. The baby bit is hard and tight. It’s been super uncomfortable. Also, a few weeks ago, I started feeling weird buzzing and experiencing numbness in my hands. Turns out, I have pregnancy carpel tunnel. My grip has been weak and I keep dropping things. Feet and legs, also swollen. I’m trying my best not to live in comfy leggings, baggy tops, without make-up etc. One of the few frivolous things that makes me feel normal is dressing up.

IMG_1624Tonight we’re heading out to a potluck dinner party with a small group of Singaporeans (and some Indonesians) who live in Las Vegas. And this is what I’m wearing.

So my family left last Wednesday morning and it’s been a week since they’ve been gone. Never gets any easier. I’ve washed their dirty clothes and bedlinens but I’ve left them untouched in the guest bedrooms. Basically trying not to reset the rooms so that I can hold on as long as I can. It’s been so quiet and I’ve been all mopey. Save for a short trip to the grocery store and post office, I haven’t been out all week until today. T and I went to Benjarong – a thai restaurant near our house. So yay! Not in sad leggings and baggy sweatshirts today.

IMG_6452How do you like our little yard? It’s mostly brown because we live in the desert but I decided to take pictures here because the landscaping guys just came in to tidy it up and it looks neat!

One thing though, you have to go in and out quickly or you will burn! Summer in the desert is no joke. I have my minimum of SPF 50 for the body and I also try to cover my arms when it gets too hot because I get all freckly!

IMG_5978I’m not sure what I’m going for but I’m glad I found another way to wear this super cute Marvin Martian crop top from Forever21 and also these bargain basement brandless ikat print harem pants I got from Ross. I have to admit that I researched looks for harem pants, tried it out on myself and failed miserably. Maybe I’m going for the Gwen Stefani in her track pants and bindi phase here. I don’t know! Hahahahaa.

IMG_5961I think we’re seeing the last of these shorts for a while. Okay, maybe a week or so because it’s still so hot out. This striped peplum top however, I think have been surprisingly versatile! I’ve worn it with jeans and with a hi-lo skirt – both of which I really liked. This combination appears to be a keeper too!

IMG_5967You would be forgiven for thinking that I must be crazy for wearing a cardigan in the middle of Summer, especially since I live in the desert. Here’s the thing though – it might not look like it, but it’s a really light cardigan worn to the brink of death! It’s pilling and shows its age upclose. I bought this in Singapore and if you can imagine tropical humidity and heat, this cardigan is actually quite breathable. I love it! So glad I brought it here with me when I returned in April to pick up my stuff.

IMG_5971This hat came in July’s Popsugar Must Have Box. It’s a brown straw hat with a wire brim so you can adjust it as you wish. I would’ve have bought it if I didn’t get it free (it costs USD48) and I was actually quite undecided about keeping it so at the time of these pictures being taken, the Michael Stars tag wasn’t removed yet. I’m keeping it because it’s useful to wear a hat in the desert summer especially since I walk Max everyday. But the real reason behind my keeping it is, T saying that he thinks it’s cute on me and wants me to wear it. So gentlemen, say nice things to your women. They are listening and they appreciate when you pick up on little things like that.

My pal Ryddy gifted me this dress from England and he likes women to dress with a more feminine style. So the key thing to making this dress work for me was the petticoat. I don’t have nice curvy hips (or any hips at all) so I wouldn’t be able to take advantage of the fact that this dress had a big circle skirt. This is what I call the inverted cupcake look – the frosting at the bottom, see? I would love to dress like a cupcake all the time…
