This is the first time I’m wearing this dress. For some strange reason though, it looks kinda blue here when it’s actually a very light mint green. I got it at Target for $7.99, down from $24.99! w000t!

My pals Little and his wife Joanne are in town visiting me and this is what I wore to show them around the Las Vegas Strip yesterday – bright and cheery but still sensible for lots of walking! What do you think of my 1st fat-shionista post with the new hair? It’s all shaved and buzzed like a boy’s at the back and I coloured it red myself to save money!

This is one of those dresses I hardly wear because I never brought it back to Singapore. I ordered it online and it got sent to Las Vegas sitting here for a month or so until I visited T (this was before we were married). I wore it once during a holiday here then I went back to Singapore for months, leaving it behind. Then I came back again and wore it another one time before the weather turned and it was too cold to wear again until now… hahaha… Poor neglected dress.

Do you shop online? When I lived in Singapore, I shopped on eBay for gently used on-trend clothes that were within my budget and also my size. Then I discovered etsy and I not only bought a lot of vintage dresses but I started ordering custom-made ones – each dress would cost between US60 – 150. After that, I went through a clothes copying phase where I bought cheap and cute fabric from textile shops in Singapore then getting local tailors to replicate my favourite dresses. These days, I have little desire to go through all that trouble – partly because I’m now a housewife and I don’t have anywhere to go, partly because I feel like my money could be put elsewhere (like *koffkoff* the mortgage payments of our home). It doesn’t hurt that I now live in Las Vegas and we’re not far from the outlet malls… heehee..

Do I look like I’m in pain or that I’m suffering some unspeakable sadness? I feel like that’s what it appears to be when I’m not smiling or grinning widely. I’m often asked if I’m okay and it does force me to be insanely jolly (or pretend to be) just so as not to worry anyone. HAHAHA!

This is one of my first 2 HELL BUNNY dresses. I bought this in November 2012 when my friends and I flew to Melbourne, Australia to catch Radiohead. I’m not sure if this is true but it is said that RADIOHEAD will never play in Singapore because there are no human rights protection laws there. So instead of taking the risk of never ever seeing them LIVE, my friends and I decided a group holiday was long overdue anyway. It was super fun! 8 of us in a rental apartment in the heart of Chinatown. Before life got to us (work, marriage, family, children etc), we met every weekend at the same places. You didn’t even have to call. You just turn up and at least a few people from the gang would be at 1 of 2 hangouts. I use the term gang loosely because there are over 20 people in our group, some of whom no longer lived in Singapore – and now there’s me. We are now just a secret Facebook group. I’m glad we’re still connected though.
You know kids, life changes so quickly and even if you don’t think you will, YOU WILL. So enjoy today while being responsible for your tomorrow – you want both financial security and your nest eggs of adventures. You don’t want to be one of those lonely old rich people who are just full of what-ifs and I-should-haves. Money can only buy you that much happiness. There’s no turning back the clocks. Don’t be afraid to live what little you have. I have lots of stupid hijinks stories and crazy travel tales that would fuel my old age because… you know, I was really top notch at making bad decisions and naively fearless of the unknown. Heh heh heh… Ask me and maybe I’ll tell you in private.

This is a post dedicated to my dear dear pal Tammy K because she got me this dress AND the clutch. I must clarify that she got this dress tailor-made FOR ME so it’s one of a kind! For no reason other than because she’s wonderful! She copied the pattern of a DOROTHY PERKINS dress she bought FOR ME (again) to wear to her wedding in England several years ago but I’ve since lost about 10kgs so this new dress needed to be cinched in with a big belt. Such a dear friend whom I miss so so much…

This morning T and I brought Max to the vet for a check-up to see if he is still cancer-free. He was a really happy dog the entire time until the swing doors opened and he remembered that we had to leave him there with the technician. There was a bit of a struggle but we managed. Poor doggie was so happy to see us when we picked him up!

This is a weird one for a fashion post but not unusual for a wastedfashion post. I wore this outfit last Sunday when T and I took Max the Maximum Dog out to Red Rock Canyon for a leash-free run. Yes, I hiked for about 40 minutes along a trail that was a prehistoric seabed. It was a moderate hike and we didn’t finish the trail. It was relatively easy with mild slopes so I could do it in this outfit. Heehee…

I strongly recommend these boots for the style, fit and price (I paid USD60). They’re so easy to walk in and also, check out Red Rock Canyon too! I should do a post on our hike soon.
In other words, I have forgiven Delia*s and I couldn’t resist a good bargain. I got a total of 5 items that I actually need and want for under USD30 (inclusive of P&H and free shipping).
I overestimated my tolerance for the desert winds and have found that I don’t have enough long-sleeved or warm clothes. I’ve been layering on the t-shirts even at home and I have to put on a coat to walk out to collect the mail (Weak! I know!). Long story short, saw some cute stuff in my size, at an irresistible price-point and TAH DAH!
Frivolous, I know. Lalala…
