New hair by Jean Yip Group

Last month, I went down to get my hair done at Jean Yip in Plaza Singapura. I left it entirely to senior stylist Joe and he recommended that I had a haircut (trim and shape), a digital perm and scalp treatment.

It took me a while to get used to the digital perm but I am loving it now! I had mixed reviews and really it boiled down to whether I liked it myself and after 2 weeks, I totally did. More body and more versatile for hair accessories! At the same time, I have to totally rave about the hair treatment – worth every single penny (that I didn’t pay for but I would have if I knew how many compliments I would get about the texture of my hair). I am a convert and a believer now! Don’t just shampoo and condition your hair. If you have time and can afford it, treat your crowning glory to some professional TLC. My key hair issues were limp and fine hair and an oily scalp (that has led to hair loss). What is yours?

Anyway, I trust Joe and he has once again done his magic. I went in not knowing what I wanted or needed (the above picture was today’s BEFORE). He recommended a colour (S$128) and highlight (S$138) as well as the scalp peel with light treatment (S$338). I said yes yes yes to everything and left it to him to decide what colour or what to do. He’s the professional and I usually use my fingers to style my hair. As he went along, he explained what he was doing and why. Like how I should have a darker base and subtle highlights; tips on styling my hair; what special occasion looks I can go for etc. It was all very enlightening. I liked that my hair is dark instead of some caramel-ly or brassy colour. It still looks like my hair but less dull!

The service at the salon was great as usual. I had several people come up to me and asked if I needed a drink (I had a big cup of bubble tea so I was set for the 2 hours I was there); Joe constantly checked if I was uncomfortable or bored or if I needed anything; they had many different magazines available and I was kept entertained – I caught up with fashion news, gossips and random articles I wouldn’t have otherwise read. Long story short, if I had another need to revamp my hairstyle or save it from my disastrous and non-existant maintenance techniques, Jean Yip would definitely be at the top of my list. I’m a happy customer and I love my hair!

If I ever hold a wedding ceremony in Singapore (Back story: I’m not a big wedding party person and my fiance lives in America.), I’ll definitely try to book Joe to do my hair! That’s how satisfied I am.

I left feeling great with a nice clean scalp, bouncy curls and no more dark roots/white hair showing! Thanks to the kind people at Jean Yip Group (Singapore) for their invitation to be part of their 3-month long #styleofthemonth campaign!

  1. So purty! I am finally having my hair cut on Friday. It grows like a weed and it’s completely out of control. My biggest hair issue is that my hair is ridiculously thick. It’s like a hedge. But the actual hairs are very fine so it knots terribly.I actually have the whole back under cut to take the weight out and make it more manageable.
