Rants & Raves: Mass runs

In December of 2010, I rejoined a gym and set one of my New Year’s resolution for 2011 to “run 5km non-stop without fainting”. I was tracking my progress for most of 2011 (HERE) until I realised I was already conditioning myself to lead a more active lifestyle without trying anymore. I haven’t lost much weight and am not seeking to do so deliberately. (I know I have to be stricter with my diet if I really want to see some significant weight-loss.) It was more to prove a point that there is HEALTH AT EVERY SIZE.

I have since worked up the courage to sign up for 2 mass runs with my friend, Sharon’s encouragement. We did the 5km SHAPE RUN on 15 July and the 10km GREAT EASTERN WOMEN’S RUN on 11 November 2012. (See this very hilarious photo of us with Sharon’s son, Liam touching my boob)

I haven’t yet fainted but I’m still not running non-stop. Actually the term running is a misnomer. I jog. Slowly. But I move non-stop. It takes me well over 90 minutes to do 10km but I’m not worried or ashamed. I’m just happy to be moving and the preparation for the runs actually motivates me to exercise more frequently. *koff* Although I have to admit that the sloth/couch potato triumphs once the race is over. So…

I have signed up for 3 runs in 2013!!!
GREEN CORRIDOR RUN 27th January 2013, 10.5km
SAFARI ZOO RUN 17 February 2013, 12km.
SUNDOWN MARATHON 1 June 2013, 10km.

Wish me luck!!
