Shape Run 2012

I got up at 5am this morning to join the SHAPE RUN. I managed to shower, have breakfast and warm-up before I left the house. I reached Nicoll Highway at about 6.15am and there were already heaps of women dressed in the pink Reebok-Shape Run tank top. I didn’t wear mine because #%@^*!?’ the largest size they had was too small. (Damn you size-iests)

This is sorta one of my 35 by 35. The first public run but only 5km. I did it in ok time. More or less the same as in the gym but considering I was jumping up and down curbs, also avoiding people, I did good! *pat on the back*

I also signed up for the Great Eastern Women’s Run in November. That’s the 10km one. I’m not sure why I did that but I’m hoping not to regret it.

I must thank my pal Sharon for signing up  together and encouraging me. She also took some pictures of me. And, her husband Ken brought their baby Liam to greet us at the finishing line! I was so bloody happy to see all of them!!

It was quite an interesting experience and it’s been ages since I’ve perspired this much in public. It is a mega huge deal for me. I also had one big goal to achieve – just DO NOT COME IN LAST!! I didn’t. And I didn’t chicken out. I didn’t faint and I did okay! I must say though, this climate is terrible for running! HATE! Oh and I did see someone being wheeled away on a stretcher (she also looked like she puked). I know this is horrible but I was a bit afraid that might’ve been me.

The other thing was the huge mess of people. It took almost as long to collect the Runner’s Kit (aka goodie bag) as it did for me to finish the run!! The queue was looooooong (see photo of huge field and an endless line). Also, what I don’t get is, why are there so many men taking pictures of us running!!!!?!? They can’t all be official photographers and there were so many of them using phone cameras too!
