Singapore General Elections 2011

I hardly post real thoughts here but I, like many of my generation in Singapore, have been swept by Election Fever. For the first time in years, Singapore politics actually exists. In this Internet age where social networks prevail, we can only thank technology for opening doors and shedding ignorance. By the grace of my parents’ housing choice, I’ve lived in Singapore’s opposition stronghold for 25 out of the 27 years that Chiam See Tong has served as MP. Unlike many of my friends, I’ve voted several times since coming of age. It it a fantastic feeling to see how vocal and passionate my peers are. I see hope for a better future. Regardless of where they cast their votes, I rejoice in the simple fact that many Singapore now have a choice to vote. And knowing that my friends will make their votes count, already makes the future brighter. The time is now.
